The Story

In The Hood is the story of three fashionable women getting in the zone. Immersed in the energy of the group, they are standing strong together in bright colours enhancing women's empowerment.

The first female character expresses her love for fashion with a touch of "pagne". Her garment is a reference to African fabrics, notably the loincloth from Sub-Saharan Africa, which has become a textile art rich in meanings and part of everyday life.

Outstanding ornamental patterns of the "evil eye" are intricately embroidered on the pink dress as the source of protection and power against any adversity directed at her.

Modern elements derived from pop culture such as the icons Rihanna, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are intricately embroidered on the traditional Arab attire, with the aim to stimulate conversation. This is their creative way to get people talking and changing the codes eventually.

The artist has her own unique approach to the traditional art of embroidery that she infuses with modern elements and a quirky touch. Azaïdé sincerely believes that the embroidered garments protect her female characters from troubles and give them the power to show their true self and shine brighter.
